Barcelona - The capital of Catalonia

Arrival in Barcelona, a bit late. Another train before us broke down and they had to evacuate the passengers and tow the train off the tracks. So we got 45 minutes delayed. But today this wasn´t an issue: we had plenty of time since we were going to stay in the city over the night. This because there were no trains to Paris this afternoon.

Sightseeing in Barcelona

There are plenty of things to see in the Catalan capital. We took the metro from Sants Train Station, to the centre of Barcelona. We went to visit Casa Battló, which was designed by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. More info about this fantastic building here: CASA BATTLÓ

The church La Sagrada Familia

Next, we were off to another building designed by Antoni Gaudí. The amazing church La Sagrada Familia (The Holy Family). They started building it in 1882 and eventhough Gaudí died in 1926, they have kept on building it ever since (with a few stops). We wonder if they will ever finish...

In any case, it´s a crazy building, with a million details to look at.

Sushi for dinner

We came back early to the hotel, we have a big day ahead of us tomorrow. On Sunday 8th of January we will travel Barcelona > Paris > Basel > Hamburg. That is going to be close to 2,000 km!!

The Big Day is here, we are leaving Seville for Sweden. We were up early this morning, a 07:00, to go to the train station Sevilla-Santa Justa. Departure of the first train at 08:50.

Seville to Barcelona

The first leg of our trip is Seville - Barcelona, more than 1,000 km.

The first leg of the journey will take us some 5 hours 30 minutes. Arrival in Barcelona at 14:20.

AVE  - The Spanish High Speed Train

We are travelling by AVE today, the Spanish high speed train. We will travel at some 270 km/h, flying through the Spanish landscape!

We start our trip in style, travelling first class on the AVE. It´s because 2nd class was already fully booked. But first class was cheap with our Interrail Global Pass, only 13,40 euros per person.

We´ll be staying in Barcelona tonight, because there was no good connections to continue our trip today.

Hopefully we will have time to see a bit of Barcelona, I have never been to this city before.

Tomorrow (Sunday 8th of January 2023), we travel from Barcelona to Paris, France.

My dad´s family in Sweden

As I told you before, I was born in Seville but my dad is from Sweden. Here is a presentation of my father´s family in Sweden!

Into The Wild

My dad was born in a very small village in the north of Sweden. It´s called Åkroken and when he was young, there were 13 people living in the village. Now there are only 4 people: my grandparents and another couple. Below you will see a map of Sweden with the village of Åkroken highlighted, and also Stockholm, the capital of Sweden:

Åkroken is part of a slightly bigger village called Graninge but there are only around 500 inhabitants in the whole area. My dad calls it "The Village where nothing happens", please see:

Åkroken lies about 500 km north of Stockholm, it takes about 5-6 hours to travel from Stockholm to Åkroken by car/train.

It can be very cold in winter, down to minus 30 degrees Celsius. And there can be a lot of snow, as you can see here:

My Swedish grandparents

This my grandmother Ammi and my grandfather Torbjörn! My grandma was born in 1952 so she is 70 years old. My grandfather was born in 1947 so he is 75. I will celebrate his 76 birthday with him this year, on the 19th of January!

My grandfather Torbjörn worked in the construction industry but now he is retired. My grandma Ammi took care of the farm (cows, horse, hens, pigs...) they had before (until 1990 something) and then she worked as a kindergarten teacher, as a chef and at retirement home. My grandmother is also a pensioner now.

My aunt, Faster Ninni, was born in 1978 so she is 44 years old. She is 4 years younger than my father.

She is a nutrionist and works at a spa/health center. She is also a personal trainer. She is fit as a flee indeed... We spend a lot of time together when I am in Sweden and we have a lot of fun!

This is my cousin Ida. She is 26 years old (1996). She lives in Stockholm and works at the Swedish Police.

This is my cousin Hugo. He was born in 2004 so he is 18 years old. He studies at high school, to become a plumber. He likes to drive his EPA-traktor (a car but you cannot drive fast with it) and his snowmobile in winter. He goes to the gym and plays football. He spends all his free-time with his friends.

This is my cousin Ville. He is 14 years old (2008). Ville likes to go fishing and to be with his friends. He goes everywhere by bike. He goes to the gym and likes to do downhill skiing in winter.

Esta es mi tia Sofia  es una asistente personal de una persona muy importante en Suecia. Hace unos postres riquísimos y unas salsas espectaculares.

Mi tío Mats, el rey de la barbacoa

Este es mi tío Mats es el jefe de la parte de productos cárnicos de un supermercado llamado "ICA". Es muy famoso si buscais ICA en google os sale. Le encanta cocinar y cocina muuuy bien me encanta su comida. Sobre todo le gustan hacer barbacoas!

Esta es mi prima Emilia (centro de la foto), va a cumplir 20 años ahora en marzo (es del 2003). Ella normalmente trabaja en un hotel llamado" Scandic" en la recepción. Pero va a trabajar en una estación de esquí en Austria durante el invierno de 2022-23 así que lamentablemente no le veré. Le encanta viajar y salir con sus amigas.

Esta es mi prima Frida y ella tiene 15 años (2007). Tiene un mellizo que se llama Kalle. A mi prima le gusta ir de compras y estar con las amigas. Antes hacía atletismo y era buena en lanzamiento de jabalina. También le gusta montar a caballo, como a mi.

Este es mi primo Kalle, el mellizo de Frida. También nació en el 2007. Mi primo juega al fútbol y mi tío Mats es su entrenador. También va con su moto para encontrarse con sus amigos. Le gusta mucho los videojuegos, como Fortnite.

My Spanish family

This is my Spanish family

This my mother Eva, she is 45 years old and she works at a NGO called "Oxfam Intermón".

She loves to do jewellery out of resin, for example earrings and bracelets. She also likes to read, watch series on TV and to do crafts, like me.

This is my father Christer, he is 48 years old. He works translator and he loves cooking. His favourite food is Indian food. He also likes to drink tea and to go for walks in the countryside.

This is my grandma Loli and she is a pensionist, She loves to go shopping with me and to go out with her friends to concerts, the theater, dinners, etc. 

This is my dog Abba. She is a Shorkie-Zu, a mix between Yorkshire Terrier and Shih Tzu. She loves to go out on walks and she also loves to play. She is very cute and nice.
