This is me!
My name is Amelia Tatiana Heljestrand
Arteaga. I was born on Monday 9th of May 2011. I was born in
Seville, Spain but I´m half Spanish, half Swedish. My mother is from Spain and
my father is from Sweden. My mother tongue is Spanish, and my father tongue is
Swedish, I speak both languages. I also speak English, and study French at
school.
Where I live
I live in a house in Tomares, a
village or suburb just outside Seville. The house is big and we also have a big
garden. I live there with my parents, my grandmother and my dog, Abba.
Tomares is a village with around
25,000 inhabitants. It takes us just 10 minutes (by car) to go down to the city
of Seville, or some 20 minutes by bus or metro.
Seville is the capital of Andalucia,
one of the seventeen autonomous regions in Spain. Andalucia is the southernmost
part of Spain so Africa is not far away! In fact, it takes us just 3 hours to
get to Morocco in northern Africa.
Since Seville lies so far south, the
climate is very warm. Temperature rarely falls below +10 C in winter and even
in December and January, the coldest months, we can have over +20 C in the shadow.
The summers are extremely hot. From June to September it is normally between
+30 and +40 C, for like 3 months. During the summer of 2022 we had +45,1 C in
Tomares (24th of July). So I recommend you to avoid visiting Seville
in summer. It is just too hot.
The most beautiful time here in the
south is the spring - March, April and May. Then we have “normal” temperatures
and everything is lush and green. For example, we have around 70,000 orange
trees in the city of Seville and they blossom in spring. The smell from the azahar,
the orange flowers, is really nice!
Self-description
I´m a pretty calm person but I can
also be nervous at times. I´m a very social person and I love to meet with my
friends to play. I tend to get along very well with almost everyone. And since
I speak three languages, I don´t have a problem playing with people from other
countries! Since the climate is so good in Spain, I meet a lot with my friends
outdoors, at the central square in the village or in a park.
After school I do horse-riding and
hip hop. I love horses and I ride two times per week at a riding school called
Centro Hípico El Galapagar. My favourite horses are:
I have been going to hip hop class
for four years and we practice every Friday. In December 2022 we did a show at
the Benito Villamarín Stadium, Real Betis home arena. We danced in front of an
audience of 53,565 people, before the start of the game. That was quite an
experience!
I also like to play basketball,
volleyball and tennis. I play the piano at home.
I´m very creative and I like to do
all sorts of handicraft. I also like drawing and painting.
But of course, I also like to use my
tablet to watch TikTok and YouTube Shorts. I watch a lot of content in English.
Negative sides: I´m a bit impatience
and can be nervous at times. I can also be a bit lazy, especially when it comes
to household chores and homework.
Me at school
My favourite subjects are: Plastic
Arts, because I like to draw and paint. Spanish, because it is easy and also
other languages, like English and French. I am not too fond of maths and science.
My plans for the future and profession
I would like to study Robotic Engineering, with my best friend Teresita. I would like to become an engineer.
Trips abroad
Since I´m half Swedish, I have travelled many times to Sweden. The first time when I was 2.5 years old, in December 2013. After that, I have been to Sweden almost every year, sometimes more than one time per year. I have celebrated Christmas, Easter and Midsummer in Sweden.
In 2015, we went by car from Seville to Stockholm, quite an adventure. Our route was on our way to Sweden was:
Seville-Valencia (Spain)
Valencia-Martigues (France)
Martigues-Paris (France)
Paris-Hoffenheim (Germany)
Hoffenheim-Lübeck (Gemany)
Lübeck-Copenhagen (Denmark)
Copenhagen-Malmö (Sweden)
Malmö-Stockholm (Sweden)
We stayed in Sweden for 5 weeks. On our way back, we also visited Hamburg (Germany), Reims (France) and Bayonne (France).
We have travelled by car various times to Moissac, in the south of France, between Toulouse and Bordeaux.
From Seville, we can easily travel to Portugal, it is only 1.5 hours to the Portuguese border. We love to go the Algarve, especially to Albufeira.
I have also been to London for one
weekend, in 2020. And in November 2022, we went to Disneyland Paris.
Why I want to go on Erasmus
I want to go to Sweden to study
there because it will be fun to get to know new friends. I already understand
and speak Swedish, but I would like to learn to read and write in Swedish too.
It will also be interesting to learn
how school is in Sweden and compare it to Spain.
My host family are my uncles and my
cousins. And my Swedish grandfather and grandmother, and my aunt, will also
come down to Stockholm to visit me. It will be great to spend some time with my
Swedish family.
